Fishing was pretty good this weekend. We had to do a little searching but we found our limit of rockfish up to 38″ each of our morning trips. We ended up fishing right out from the Patuxent River. We got across one school of fish and hooked up all six lines with fish up to 30 inches! It was great fun and the guys on the boat went crazy.

We finally had some weather good enough to get out for some night fishing. We caught our first croakers of the year. We had a couple of slow nights, but the weather was great, even if it was a little chilly. The Bay was flat calm and we picked away at some small to medium fish throughout the evening. I’m hoping the weather for next weekend will be good and that some warmer weather this week will result in better croaker fishing.

I have morning trips available for this coming weekend if you have the post-Memorial Day blues and you want to get out of the house.

saturday-may-10-0032.jpgFishing was good this week. We caught everyone a big fish and on Saturday we caught our limit of big ones and small ones. As long as the weather is decent we will start croaker fishing this week. The weather has been pretty wild as most of you know.

We had a great day today. I had some nice folks who braved the rain in the morning and it really paid off. We had 10 people and caught 10 fish, 9 of them were 37-42 inches! Jessie of Hampstead, MD wound in a 38 and 39-inch doubleheader on the OUTSIDE planer board line, which means he did a lot of winding!

We had a hell of a storm go through Sunday night. According to the observations at the research pier at Solomons we had gusts over 50 knots which means close to 60 mph. There was a foot and a half of water over the road at the Tiki Bar. Things have settled down now, though. We lost Monday’s trips to the weather and we don’t fish again until Friday so I will see you then.

May 6 fishing report

big-fish-spring-2008.jpgOn a slick calm, somewhat foggy morning the action was red hot today. The fish were breaking the surface and popping bait fish into the air! We released a bunch of undersized fish at first. We then went looking down toward Point No Point Lighthouse. I saw some birds and it just looked like the real deal. I put the lines out and sure enough, it was. We put out 5 lines and all went down with almost all keepers. The guys were ready to roll so up the Bay we went. I polished the the aluminum and scrubbed the boat down. We have a few days off now so I’ll try to update Saturday evening if I can avoid the Tiki Bar on my way home!
